The second European Universities Debating Championship (EUADC), the first of which was held in Vienna in 2019, took place in Istanbul. The elimination rounds of the championship were held at the Ibn Haldun University Campus, and the final was held on February 17 at the Başakşehir Emin Saraç (BES) Cultural Center.
The championship, organized in partnership with Ibn Haldun University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, and the Qatar Debate Center (QatarDebate), saw the participation of 16 teams and 80 students from 10 countries, with 30 debate judges officiating.
In the fiercely competitive final, Liverpool University and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University faced off, with the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University Debate Team emerging victorious. Awards were also presented to teams and participants who excelled in various categories.
The final and award ceremony of the championship was attended by our Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan; our President, Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan; President of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Şimşek; General Manager of the Qatar Debate Center, Dr. Hayat Abdulla Maarafi; and Mayor of Başakşehir, Yasin Kartoğlu.
Our President Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan stated, "Our students develop their ability to express themselves uniquely, argue, and present their ideas with evidence in these competitions. At the same time, they improve their skills and habits of expressing themselves well in front of the public," emphasizing the significance of this.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of gifts.
