Building a Person of Will and Strong Personality

In the welcoming speeches of the ceremony, our Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz shared his views on the journey from knowledge to wisdom with examples from our tradition. In this context, Prof. Gündüz emphasized that the correct understanding and interpretation of the changes in the world and technological developments is possible only if a person first recognizes and knows himself/herself and takes steps with his/her own will, and emphasized the importance of distinguishing between right and wrong with his/her own will and sharp intelligence. Prof. Gündüz added that the goal of our University is to build a person with this will and personality.

The World Needs Social Scientists with Broad Horizons Trained Here

Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees, started his welcoming speech with the wishes for the 10th anniversary of our University and stated that Ibn Haldun University continues on its way with the determination to build on the knowledge it has gained in 10 years with each passing year. Stating that the world, which faces new crises every day, is in great need of social scientists with a bright and broad intellectual horizon, Erdoğan concluded his speech by expressing his belief that the guard of civilization will take over with each new paradigm produced here.

We are at a New Breaking Point in History

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan started his welcoming speech by stating that this academic year has a special value as it is the year in which the 10th anniversary of the establishment of our University will be celebrated. Stating that we entered our 10th year with 12 undergraduate programs, 24 graduate programs in 24 different fields, over 1800 students and over 1000 graduates, Prof. Arkan added that our University is also the first university in our country in the field with an international student ratio of over 30% and a graduate student ratio of over 50%. Stating that the world is facing significant crises and challenges today, Prof. Arkan said that our biggest responsibility is to prepare ourselves for the future, especially with major developments such as artificial intelligence, which marks a new break in history. Prof. Arkan also underlined that with our historical background, we are raising leading cadres who read and interpret today and today's problems correctly and prepare themselves, their country and humanity for a good, just and prosperous future.

There is No Full Independence Without Intellectual Independence
