Aysha Shahalabath, 3rd year student of the Department of Sociology of our University, was the winner of the original work competition.
Our student's prize for her article titled "When the Extraordinary Becomes Ordinary: Imagining a World Beyond Perpetual Crises" was presented to him by our Rector Prof. Atilla Arkan on Friday, October 20. Our Vice Rector Prof. Mustafa Kemal Yılmaz and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Alev Erkilet, one of the jury members, were also present at the ceremony
The article has sociological relevance in this context, arguing for a non-Eurocentric interpretation of neoliberalism and making a convincing case for decolonial thought that can potentially contribute to creative ways of healing, knowing and understanding through a process of epistemic decomposition that can help us move beyond our perpetual state of crisis.
